The courts in Arizona have three levels:
- Limited Jurisdiction Courts,
- Appellate Courts,
- Superior Court
Arizona has branches in each of our 15 counties.
Limited Jurisdiction Courts are called Justice Courts and Municipal Courts. The Limited Jurisdiction Courts handle criminal and civil traffic violations, misdemeanor crimes, small claims, civil complaints under a monetary value of $10,000, landlord / tenant evictions, orders of protection, and injunctions against harassment.
The St. Johns Justice Court office is open 8 am to 5 pm Monday through Thursday. The Justice Court office is located upstairs, and the courtroom is immediately ahead, as you enter the front door of the Courthouse.
Many traffic violations can be handled at our front counter.
All Court Hearings are scheduled on the Court Calendar.
- Mondays: Initial Appearances and Arraignments
- Tuesdays: Small Claims Hearings, Bench Trials, Trial and Order to Show Cause
- Wednesdays: Law and Legal day for Criminal Hearings
