Round Valley Justice Court Dedication
August 24, 2011
History of the Building
The building was built during the Great Depression. Construction was started about 1934 using Work Progress Administration (W.P.A.) labor. Rock Masons Alejandro Chavez and Evaristo Silva used native
stone to construct the twenty-bed facility, which finally opened in 1939. The addition to the north end of the building was built in the mid- 1950’s and the addition to the south end was added in the early-1980’s.
The building has housed many offices throughout the years. Included are the Superintend of Schools,
Motor Vehicle Division, NACOG, Little Colorado Behavioral Health Center, Sheriff’s Sub-Station, Apache County Juvenile Probation, and the Round Valley Justice Court and Springerville/Eagar Magistrate Courts.
In March 2010, Apache County Building and Maintenance Department workers along with DOC inmates began construction to remodel the building, which was completed in April, 2011.
The building now proudly houses the Round Valley Justice Court and the Springerville/Eagar Magistrate Courts.
