We undertake successful planning programs, policies, and activities in order to manage change to the extent that it improves our quality of life. We serve in one of the leading agencies in county government responsible for improving the quality of life for the citizens of Apache County by making it a better place to work and play now and in the future. Our advisory and administrative role is the means to improving our quality of life.
A key role of Planning and Zoning is guiding the orderly growth of the county while maintaining the private property rights of the citizens. We strive toward fairly and equitably upholding laws and consistently administering rules and regulations adopted by the Planning and Zoning Commission and the Board of Supervisors. We pursue this mission of service to the taxpayers each day in accordance with the provisions contained in the Apache County Comprehensive Plan, Zoning Ordinance, and Subdivision Ordinance, and within the context of Arizona mandates.
We constantly monitor, evaluate, measure, and review our performance from the perspective of our customers, the citizens. There is no substitute for direct citizen involvement in refining services and performance.
Apache County Planning and Zoning Commission meetings are usually held the first Thursday of every month at 1:00 p.m. The public meetings are held in the Board of Supervisors Room, Apache County Annex Building, 75 West Cleveland, St. Johns, Arizona. Agendas will be posted 24 hours prior to the meeting and will be available in the Community Development Department. Notice of a “special” meeting will also be posted.
