NATURE OF DUTIES:
Under supervision of a Lead Dispatcher performs dispatch duties of moderate to difficult degrees.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
Maintain routine communication between dispatch and city, county, state and federal law enforcement agencies, emergency medical services, fire departments and detention officers transporting prisoners.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to:
$ communicate effectively verbally and in writing;
$ answer all in coming telephone calls for service and administration office, taking messages quickly, accurately and courteously;
$ respond to emergencies coming in on the 911 system with professional precision, maintaining a calm and cool demeanor;
$ carry on multiple task communications;
$ get along with others in close proximity for extended periods of time;
$ learn the operation of computers, facsimile machines, multi frequency transmitting equipment and key boarding skill.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or equivalent, 18 years of age or older, able to hear normal conversation, able to speak and understand the English language fluently, must pass a background check including NCIC. Must submit to random urinalysis or other specified drug screen.
