The courts in Arizona have three levels: Limited Jurisdiction Courts, Appellate Courts, and one Superior Court with branches in each of our 15 counties. Limited Jurisdiction Courts are called Justice Courts and Municipal Courts.
The Limited Jurisdiction Courts handle criminal and civil traffic violations, misdemeanor crimes, small claims, civil complaints under a monetary value of $10,000, landlord / tenant evictions, orders of protection, and injunctions against harassment.
The St. Johns Justice Court office is open 8 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday
The office's front counter is on the immediate right, and the courtroom is immediately ahead, as you enter the front door of the Courthouse.
Many traffic violations can be handled at our front counter.
All Court Hearings are scheduled on the Court Calendar.
- Mondays: initial appearances, orders to show cause, arraignments
- Tuesdays: small claims hearings and trials
- Wednesdays: law & motion day for criminal hearings and bench trials
